VVT is a technology used in the engine to allow it to get greater power or efficiency at different running points.   That consists of a few different components but the P0014 DTC specifically refers to the camshaft (cam) timing. In this case, if the cam timing is above a set limit (over-advanced), the engine light will be illluminated and the code will be set. Bank 1 is the side of the engine containing cylinder #1. The "B" camshaft shall be either the "exhaust," "right," or "rear" camshaft. Left/Right and Front/Rear are determined as if viewed from the driver’s seating position.

The ECM/PCM has detected the range of movement of the intake camshaft on bank 1 is out of specifications or not operating when commanded. Bank 1 refers to the side of the engine with cylinder #1 – be sure to verify which side is correct according to manufacturers specifications. The intake valve control solenoid is typically located on the intake manifold side of the cylinder head. Note: This code may also be associated with codes P0075, P0076 or P0077 – if any of these codes exist, fix the solenoid problem before proceeding with diagnosing the circuit range/performance issue. This code is similar to codes P0027, P0028, and P0029.

Bank 1 is the side of the engine that contains cylinder #1, the "B" sensor is most likely the exhaust camshaft side. Note it is not uncommon on certain models to see this DTC in conjuction with P0008, P0009, P0016, P0018, and P0019. If you have a GM vehicle and have those multiple DTCs, check for service bulletins that may apply to your engine.
